Related Orders, the contents of each being incorporated here in its entirety by reference.
[015] A “quick connect device” for the installation of electrical installations comprises the combination of a plug and a corresponding outlet. The device's plug and corresponding outlet works to establish an electrical connection between an electrical installation and an electrical supply wiring, and mechanically support the installation on a surface or base, typically a wall, ceiling, or floor surface. As used herein, the term "installation" or "electrical installation" means any installation or application such as a lighting installation, ceiling fan, television camera, security device or any other device that is powered by or electrically powered by wiring electrical, and that requires a mechanical connection to support or suspend the installation. The plug is fixedly attached to an electrical installation, while the outlet is attached to the surface (ie wall, ceiling or floor), on which the installation is to be mounted, or to an electrical connection box. The structure, function and operation of the plug and the corresponding socket have already been detailed in, for example, the patents and orders incorporated here by reference.
[016] An "intelligent quick connect device" of the invention is generally defined as a connector with additional functionality added to the traditional ability to provide a connection. A smart quick connect device can include a sensor unit to wirelessly communicate a detected condition. Alternatively, or in addition, a smart quick connect device may include a sensor unit for wirelessly receiving a signal. The signal can be a command signal to control the intelligent quick connect device and / or the associated electrical installation. The command signal can be independent of or as a result of the perceived condition.
[017] Referring, for example, to the embedded reference published as PCT / US2016 / 032170 (the ‘170” publication), a quick connect device 20
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 16/39
12/34 for the installation of electrical installations comprises the combination of a plug 22 and a corresponding socket 24 with a sensor unit 26. A detailed description of the structure and function plug 20 and 22 is provided in publication '170 and elsewhere incorporated references, and is therefore not described in detail here. As in publication '170, one or more sensors or other electrical or electronic receivers / input or transmitters / output devices 48, 50 (referred to as “sensors”) have been associated with plug 22 or socket 24. In the present disclosure, these sensors are configured to be replaceable within a 600 set, including 626 modular sensor modules, allowing for variable sensor configuration.
[018] The plug 22 and the corresponding socket 24 of the device 20 work to establish an electrical connection between an electrical installation and an electrical supply wiring, and mechanically support the installation on a surface or base, typically a wall, ceiling or surface. floor. As used herein, the term "installation" or "electrical installation" means any installation or device such as a lighting installation, ceiling fan, television camera, security device or any other device that is powered by electricity supplied by wiring electrical, and requires a mechanical connection to support or suspend the installation. Plug 22 is fixedly attached to an electrical installation (not shown), while socket 24 is attached to the surface (ie wall, ceiling or floor) on which the installation is to be mounted, or to an electrical connection box . It should also be understood that choosing to use a socket 24 for a base causes electrical conductors carrying dangerous electrical signals to be isolated and untouchable by people. However, where exclusively low voltage / low energy signals are being used, the locations of the plug and socket can be switched or arbitrarily chosen.
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 17/39
13/34 [019] Referring generally to Figs. 1-3, a “conventional” socket 22 of a “conventional” quick-connect device for installing electrical installations commonly receives a “conventional” plug. Rather than and according to the disclosure, a matching device 23 is configured and sized to pair with socket 22. The matching device 23 includes a shaft assembly 22, as found on a “conventional” plug for reliably and mechanically connect a combination device 23 to socket 22. The combination device 23 also includes a body 25 made of non-conductive materials and on a first side 27 concentric, male connector rings (not shown, but analogous to those found on a plug “Conventional”) integrally molded to the body 25, with sufficient radial spacing between them to electrically isolate them from each other. The diameters and spacing of the male connector rings are such that they are alignable with and receivable within corresponding female recesses in socket 22. As detailed in the patent publications incorporated by reference, this alignment electrically connects the combination device 23 to the socket
22.
[020] One or more switches 36, which are mechanically coupled to the shaft assembly 22, provide a means of activating the shaft assembly 22, using a finger or a tool.
[021] A combination device 23, which receives electricity from outlet 22, is electrically coupled to a sensor unit 26. A sensor unit 26 is provided with one or more sensors 48, 50. Sensors 48 are reception sensors, for receive a signal. Non-limiting examples of the signals that can be received are given below. Sensors 50 are transmission sensors for transmitting a signal. Non-limiting examples of the signals that can be transmitted are also listed below. Sensors 48, 50 can be mounted on any surface of sensor unit 26, depending on the application.
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 18/39
14/34 [022] Depending on sensors 48, 50, sensor unit 26 may allow operation of device 23 with a manual remote control, using, for example, RF, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Again, depending on sensors 48, 50, environmental conditions such as a temperature sensor, a humidity, smoke and CO sensors, and / or a motion / presence detector can be determined. In this context, sensor unit 26 can be used as part of a security system, with sensors 48, 50 being a security camera (with or without motion activation), glass break detector, motion / presence detector , and / or emergency lighting (with battery backup).
[023] Several different circuit boards for sensor unit 26 have been developed, which are designed to attach and integrate with the combination device 23, and each has varying amounts of circuits and functions, depending on use intended. Exemplary circuits and concepts are described in the patent publications incorporated by reference, in general, without a distinction as to which board exactly contains which function.
[024] A second side 35 of the body 25 includes female recesses or concentric spaces, in the form of a ring 37. These spaces are electrically coupled to the male connector rings on the first side 27 of the body 25, and are configured to parallely receive connector rings plug on the plug (not shown), attached to an electrical installation, to establish electrical connections to the installation.
[025] As is evident from the above invention, the functions of the combination device 23 for establishing an electrical connection between an electrical installation and the electrical supply wiring, and mechanically supporting the installation on a surface or base, typically a wall surface , ceiling or floor.
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 19/39
15/34 [026] Figs. 4 and 5 show another modality of a combination device 42, already mechanically and electrically connected to a “conventional” outlet. Combination device 42 includes a switch 44 for switching sensor unit 26 on or off. Alternatively or in addition, switch 44 can turn all electricity on or off for combination device 42. Like sensor unit 26 (and / or combination device 42) can be controlled remotely via, for example, an application or mobile phone, switch 44 functions as a replacement.
[027] Fig. 6 shows another modality of a combination device 52, with an LED installation 54 already connected to the combination device 52. As noted above, the invention contemplates installations different from the LED installation 54, connected to any of the combination of the invention.
[028] Fig. 7 shows an embodiment of an intelligent quick-connect device plug 62. For plug 62, the installation is mechanically coupled through threaded hole 64. The installation wiring is fed through threaded hole 64 and electrically connected to plug 62. Plug 62 is mechanically and electrically connected to a “conventional” outlet.
[029] Figs. 8-9 show an exploded view of a socket 72 and a standard electrical connection box 74. Any of a variety of devices can be connected to socket 72 (or any of the combination devices and plugs described here), including any between a fixed camera or PTZ (pan tilt zoom); fan; video projector; pendant display that can be illuminated; video display; candle holder; camera coverage; smoke detector; video intercommunication; wall light with single or multiple heads; toys and moving objects; emergency lights; external lighting; exit sign; decorative illumination; interface for smartphone, tablet, or other computing device; sensor unit, as described here, or other devices or sensors as described here.
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 20/39
16/34 [030] The sensor unit 26 can function to provide the detection, communication, transmission, or other functions described here. These functions can include any or all of, for example, communication or information via BLUETOOTH; Wi-Fi communication, for example, with a function or core, router, access point, or relay; a motion sensor to detect movement, or an infrared sensor, to detect the presence of humans or animals, usable, for example, for the control of an HVAC system or for providing input for an alarm or monitoring system; thermostat; camera for communication, or for an alarm or monitoring system; speaker; smoke detector; fire detector; occupancy detector, using any of a variety of suitable sensors, such as motion, infrared, audio, image detection, image recognition, or air pressure; humidity sensor, for example, to protect gear or identify leaks or water ingress; and an energy consumption meter to detect intrusion or to improve efficiency; and smoke sensors and / or air quality sensors. Here, for brevity, the term “sensor” is used to collectively refer to any device that can perform one or more of the aforementioned functions, and it should therefore be understood that a “sensor” here can detect a condition, trigger, transmit, receive, send and receive, or is otherwise configured to perform any of the above functions.
[031] Devices of the invention equipped with 26 sensor units can be part of the architecture and operation of a “smart home”, just as they are made by GE and other companies. Likewise, the electronic board (s) of the sensor unit 26 can be provided with an electronic circuit, including an electronic processor, memory, storage, and other components, which can allow remote programming and operation associated with such a function. Remote operation may include a central programming or control program, which controls the operation of a device of the invention. This may include, for example, control from a

Core 700, in conjunction with attached sensor modules 626, can be attached to a surface, such as a floor, wall or ceiling. In the modality shown in Fig. 34, an electrical cable emerges from a central location, as described in the incorporated references, and passes to a lighting installation 800, suspended from the core 700. This configuration positions sensors 48, 50, close to the ceiling , which advantageously exposes the entire room or a large area to detection, facilitating the transmission of signals. This is particularly advantageous, for example, for transmitting via Wifi or BLUETOOTH, capturing images by a camera, or detecting motion. When using the set 600 to support the lighting installation 800, the concomitant supply of a power source for the 48/50 sensors, and the associated electronic components, and the electronic components of the 700 core, described elsewhere here.
[038] The set 600, including the core 700, can be provided with an external cover 620, having a surface finish, which is attractive for installation in homes or offices, or other locations where aesthetics are important. Any known material can be used for the outer surface of the assembly 600, including plastic or other synthetic material, metals, or natural materials, such as leather or wood. While the modalities shown are round, any shape can be provided, such as oval, polygonal, rectangular or arbitrary.
[039] Figs. 16-18 illustrate an upper side of assembly 600, showing plug 22 connected to a center plate 710 and an outer cover 620. A top cover 622 surrounds center plate 710 and sensor plates
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 25/39
Electronics 21/34 630. In this embodiment, the central plate 710 is circular, and the sensor plates 630 are arranged on a periphery of the central plate 710. The cover 620 forms a central core cover 706 and a series of module covers 628 , each of which is sized to independently contain and support an electronic sensor board. The central core cover 706, together with the central plate 710 and its associated connectors, forms a central core 700. A module cover 628, together with a sensor plate 630 and its associated connectors, forms a module 626. As can be seen in Figs. 12-14, any number of sensor modules 626 can be connected to central core 700. As described, 5, 8, and 12 module sets 600 are shown in Figs. 12-14, respectively.
[040] At least one of the sensor plates 630 has an electrical connector 612, for connection with a corresponding connector 614, on the central plate 710. In the illustrated mode, each sensor plate 630 is provided with a connector 612. The connector 612 it can be a USB C Connector, for example, although one or more of a wide variety of connectors can be used, depending on the size and power conditions, number of connectors required, durability, cost, and other considerations. A slot or opening 616 can be provided inside the container 626, to allow the connection to be formed, while keeping the connector 612 inside the cover 620. A central passage 708 allows the release button 36 to be tightened while avoiding contact with the center plate 710. A connector opening 714 is provided to allow access to connector 702, attached to center plate 710. Sensors 48/50 can be attached to sensor plates 630, or to cover 620, wired as needed. Lenses or other protective covers can be placed on cover 620, for the protection of 48/50 sensors.
[041] The central plate 710 can cooperate with the sensor plates as well as the sensor modules 626, through the connector, or wirelessly, to
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 26/39
22/34 provide missing functionality from the 626 sensor module, for example, power or signal processing, or for relaying information from a 626 sensor module to a network. In this way, it is possible to avoid redundant capacities between the connected sensor modules 626, each retransmission instead, in services provided by the central board 710. In addition, the central board 710 can include expensive components, which can be shared between the modules of sensor 626, thereby reducing the total cost of the assembly 600. The central plate 710 can include, for example, the functions of the control circuit 15 in the incorporated references. In embodiments, the central plate 710 is not provided, where the sensor modules 626 can operate independently, or in cooperation with each other.
[042] Connectors 612 and 702 can be provided with sufficient contacts to allow the transmission of energy, data or energy and data. For example, some 626 modules may require only power, being able to independently transmit and / or receive data. Alternatively, some 626 modules may contain a power source, and only need to communicate data to the central board 710. Finally, some modules may not use connector 612 for any purpose, or only for a mechanical connection. In one embodiment, the central board 710 includes a standard network communication circuit, such as an ethernet or USB, each connector 702 forming a port for the network. In this way, any sensor module 626 can be plugged into any connector 702. In other embodiments, certain connectors 702 can only be used for one or more designated types of module 626. Connectors 702 can thus be sized or molded to only allow connection with such designated types of module 626.
[043] In Fig. 26, it can be seen that the sensor modules 626 can be connected with each other by radially arranged connectors 612A, 612B. In this way, the 626 sensor modules can mutually cooperate to
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 27/39
23/34 increase the overall functionality of the connected 626 sensor modules, or to share data or power. In this way, the functionality of the central board 710 can be provided in the form of modules, which may or may not include the 48/50 sensors, where the functionality can be added as needed.
[044] As additionally shown in Fig. 26, the central core cover 706 and / or module cover 628 can be configured to have a removable opening or surface 706A, 628A, respectively, whereby an interior of the core cover central 706 or 628 module cover can be accessed. This can be advantageous, since it can eliminate a need to remove a 626 sensor module or disassemble the assembly 600, depending on how they are connected, when performing certain functions, including, for example, replacing a battery, or the configuration or replacement of a 710, 630 card.
[045] Modules 626 may be connected to the core 700 by any known means, including, for example, the use of magnets, hook or loop fastener, sliding fitting connection, interference fitting, fitting connection, one or more screws, adhesive, or the mechanical connection formed between connectors 612 and 702.
[046] Turning now to Figs. 20-23, a socket set or modular 600A, contains similar components, as described with respect to set 600, however, plug 22 is replaced with a socket 24, which is attached to cover 620A, or includes a strap for the connection to an electrical box in a building. In the latter embodiment, socket 24 can initially be connected to the electrical box, as described in the incorporated references, and subsequently the modular cover 620A is connected to socket 24. Alternatively, cover 620A and socket 24 are simultaneously connected to the electrical box or another mounting point, as shown in Fig. 20, for example, using belt 232. For example, center plate 710 can be mounted inside core 700 after a mechanical connection is
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 28/39
24/34 made with socket 24 and core cover 628, and after an electrical connection is made between socket 24 and the conductors inside the electrical box.
[047] Once connected or positioned in a structure, a device including a plug 22 can be connected to socket 24, as described in the incorporated references. Other components are in the form described with respect to the set 600, however, in the embodiment of Figs. 20-23, the top cover 622A is positioned adjacent an insertion end 24. As such, openings 624 are provided in the top cover 622 / 622A, as needed for sensors 48/50. The 48/50 sensors can be mounted on the top cover 622A or on the sensor plates 630, as shown.
[048] Each 626 sensor module can be dedicated to a particular task, or multiple tasks, and can contain one or more 48/50 sensors. In one embodiment, a sensor module is configured to support a set of functions, for example, delivering media content from a particular source to one or more output devices within the area of the set 600 (600, collectively, referring to 600 / 600A here), for example, for an audio or television system. For example, a 626 module can function in the manner of a ROKU or CHROMECAST device, for example, if a TV is suspended from and connected to the 600 set. The 626 sensor module can likewise emulate or provide services such as like ALEXA or a search for voice command ΌΚ Google ”.
[049] A sensor module can be configured to cooperate with a popular computer operating system, such as a MICROSOFT WINDOWS, APPLE iOS or OS X, or LINUX. In another embodiment, the sensor module 626 cooperates with a particular shopping service, such as an AMAZON, for example, by resending orders for particular products, from another device, or by spoken words. A software development kit (SDK) can be provided for the 710 central board or for any
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 29/39
25/34 one of the 630 sensor boards, so that developers can create applications that exploit characteristics of any of the boards.
[050] Figs. 27-29 illustrate a module on the reverse side / plug side of module 600 (or 600A, collectively 600 here), in which one or more 712A-E supply connectors are provided for making various wired connections with circuits, which have plug extensions provided within a 200 / 200A electrical connection box, for example, as shown in Figs. 24-25, 31, or other type of connection box. In Fig. 29, supply connectors 712 are positioned inside the module 626, and in Fig. 30 supply connectors 712 are positioned inside the central core 700. Thus, in the mode of Fig. 29, the modules can be replaced for the creation of a desired configuration, having predetermined connectors 712. Alternatively, in the mode of Fig. 30, the central core can be configured for all supported types of connections, and modules 626 can be provided, when necessary, to provide a desired functionality .
[051] It should be understood that in any of the modalities of Fig. 27 or 28, the number of different types of connectors 712 provided, correspond to the capacities provided by modules 626 or core 700, or the types of connections available within the building in junction box 200. The 712A-E connectors show a popular impulse screw / screw in standard type connectors. Specifically, in Figs. 27-28, the 712A-E connectors correspond to the following types of connections, respectively: LC fiber optic, RJ11, SC fiber optic, RJ-45, and Coax. These types of connections may not all be present, or other types of connections may be provided. Where such standardized connectors are not included, screw or impulse terminals, conductor wires, or any other type of connector can be provided for the connection of the set 600, for one or more wiring circuits in the building.
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 30/39
26/34 [052] The mounting screws are provided for connecting the set 600 to corresponding threaded openings inside the connection box 200, as do the mounting brackets 204 of the connection box 200A of Fig. 29. Screws are not described in Fig. 28, but they can be similarly provided, or other mounting instruments can be provided, for example, the outer cover 620 can be threaded on the connection box 200, or separate straps or mounting brackets can be provided. A cable opening 642 can be provided for passing a power cable or other cable through the assembly 600, to a suspended device or other external device connected to the assembly 600.
[053] With reference to Figs. 29-30, an electrical connection box 200 can be mounted within a wall, ceiling, table or other surface. A set 600 can be mounted on, partially inside, or totally inside the box 200, in the latter case, to form a surface aligned or partially aligned with respect to the plane of the mounting surface. Housing 200 is provided with a plurality of housing connector openings 202, through which the various signal and power cables can be brought into housing 200, and secured in mechanical connection therewith. One or more mounting brackets 204 can be provided to secure the assembly 600 to the box 200, positioned at the correct height, leaving room for wires and connections. In one embodiment, box 200 can be divided to separate higher energy connections from relatively lower energy connections. One or more mounting openings 206 may be provided to secure the box 200 to a wall, floor, or ceiling of a building, or to a furniture object, or other structure.
[054] In Figs. 31-32, it can be seen that modules 426 can be separated from core 700, and replaced as needed, or moved to an alternate location on core 700, connected in this illustration through connector 612 and radial connector 612A. In Fig. 32, in which the covers 628/706 are removed, it can be seen that the connectors

712 can be attached in electrical connection to the sensor / activation plate 630, and can pass through openings in the cover 628/706.
[055] As noted otherwise here, the set 600 can be used to forward information, including transmitting signals over Wifi, Bluetooth, or another wireless protocol, or over a wired protocol. As discussed, sensor signals can be routed in this way, as well as media signals, such as media content, including shopping content. Figs. 34-36 illustrate several ways in which routing information, in particular, can be conveniently performed using the set 600 of the invention, with or without transmitting sensor data. As shown in Fig. 34, a set 600B includes a central plate 710, which includes connectors 712, and optionally cabling power supply for lighting or other purposes, and for the power plate 710, although in this embodiment, for example, the power over ethernet could be used, particularly, if the only consumer of electricity will be the central board 710, or if otherwise the total power requirements are within adequate parameters.
[056] The 600B assembly can include sensor modules 626 and sensors 26, in general, or can only serve for routing network traffic using receivers 48 and transmitters 50, as shown in Figs. 34-36. If other functionality, in the form described here, whether or not provided, it should be understood that the 600B set can provide any type of data transmission functionality using receivers 48, and transmitters 50, including functioning as a Wifi router or extender, or other router or modem, core, smart switch, or any other electronic information relay or router.
[057] A front face of the assembly 600 of Figs. 27-28 can be provided with a support 24, and optionally sensor openings 624, in the form of the modalities of Figs. 18-22 and 24, and is connected to an additional installation or device as otherwise described here.
Petition 870190111973, of 11/01/2019, p. 32/39
28/34 [058] Unlike the connection of the set 600 to the terminal box 200 with screws, as described elsewhere here, the set 600 can be provided with a plug 22, and can be mounted in a building that is provided with a socket 24. For example, the socket / plug 24/22 can be used for the formation of high energy connections, and connectors 712 can be used for the formation of a signal or relatively lower power connections.
[059] In Fig. 35, a 646A pendant lamp includes a cover that covers the 600B assembly, but is manufactured with materials and in a way that does not significantly block the transmission of desired wireless signals. The lamp portion 650 may or may not include anything other than conventional lamp components, without sensors. In Fig. 36, a portion of the 650A lamp is mounted directly to the central cover 706. A release button 36A includes a stem, which can further serve as a wireless antenna. Similarly, cable 644 in Fig. 35 can function as an antenna, or an antenna connection can be integrated with cable 644. Additionally, an antenna can be positioned within the lamp portion 650. It may be advantageous to provide router / extender / modem inside a lamp, as lamps are often centrally arranged within a room, or are distributed evenly over a room, and are usually positioned on the ceiling, all of which lead to maximum coverage and minimal interference.
[060] With reference to Fig. 37, a socket 24A is embedded within a 648A dome-shaped cover. Several plugs 22, in the form described here, can be inserted into socket 24, including a plug 22A, which have a stamped socket 652, as shown in Fig. 38. Alternatively, a separate plug 22 is provided, and the stamped socket 652 is provided. connected to the 648A cover and electrically connected to plug 22.
[061] Fig. 39 illustrates a device of the invention that includes any of a socket 24, a plug 22, or the combination 23, a socket being

29/34 shown, and two concentric ring-shaped circuit boards 654A, 654B, which may be interconnected or may otherwise be positioned in interoperable communication with each other. Either or both of the 654A, 654B cards can be replaced with another, similarly sized boards, which provide different functionality, all in the form described here, for different circuit boards, including, for example, 626 sensor modules, 632 communications circuit , a power supply circuit, or any other circuit that provides functionality in the manner described here. While two concentric plates are shown, it should be understood that a greater or lesser number of concentric plates can be provided.
[062] Fig. 40 is a device in the form described with respect to Fig. 39, but it still includes modular plates 630. While only one concentric plate in the shape of a ring 654A, 654B is shown, it should be understood that two or more plates of the type can be provided. In addition, in addition to the use of several 630 sensors (as described here), 630 cards can include any electronic device that supports the various electronic functions described here.
[063] Figs. 41-42 illustrate socket 24 and plug 22 containing plates 654A, 654B, 630, respectively, in the manner described with reference to Figs. 3940. However, the embodiment of Figs. 41-42 includes both replaceable multiple concentric rings 654A, 654B, as well as replaceable 630 modules.
[064] In Fig. 43, a 648B dome cover includes speakers, as well as other 630 sensors.
[065] Fig. 44 illustrates a dome-shaped cover 648C, which covers a recessed socket 20 provided with a plug 22 including a pendant-type device, such as a lamp cord or an antenna 656.
[066] Fig. 45 illustrates cover coating sensors, and a socket that is arranged in line with a cover surface. In Fig. 46, a
